Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Underwriting Supervisor to lead our team of skilled underwriters specializing in commercial trucking insurance out of our corporate office in South Sioux City, NE. This role involves supervising daily underwriting operations, providing guidance on complex cases, and driving the team toward achieving business goals. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of the commercial trucking insurance market.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of underwriters, fostering professional growth and a high-performance culture.
Oversee the evaluation of new and renewal business to ensure adherence to underwriting guidelines and profitability targets.
Provide technical expertise and support for complex or high-value accounts.
Monitor team performance metrics and implement strategies to meet or exceed departmental goals.
Collaborate with marketing, claims, and risk management teams to develop tailored solutions for clients.
Develop positive and productive relationships with Agency partners.
Analyze market trends and adjust underwriting strategies to maintain a competitive edge.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies.
Participate in hiring, training, and performance evaluations of team members.
Willing to travel up to 30%.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role. Insurance is a plus.
Strong knowledge of the commercial trucking insurance industry, including risk assessment and pricing strategies. Underwriting is a plus.
Excellent communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to lead and develop a team in a fast-paced environment.
Professional designations such as CPCU, AU, or ARM are highly desirable.
